Group to hold Tannery Court meeting – at new location
The meeting on Tannery Court will take place after all.
The South End Sustainable Communities Group is now organizing a meeting after the city cancelled it’s meeting earlier this week.
The new meeting will take place on Thursday Nov. 20 at 7 pm at the Germain St. Baptist Church.

The South End Sustainable Communities (SESC) Group says the community meeting, “Tannery Court: a Community Discussion,” will be held Thursday Nov. 20 at 7 pm, as planned, but at a NEW Location: Germain St. Baptist Church, corner of Germain and Queen.
The unfortunate miscommunication that resulted in the city’s withdrawal from hosting the meeting meant that the original venue was no longer available.
Tannery Court Co-operative Ltd. proposes to build a 51-unit for single low-income people on the Carmarthen Street parking and blue bin lot at Queen.
In light of the heightened rhetoric that has been associated with the Tannery Court Project, and the “lines drawn in the sand,” it is hoped that the meeting will become a forum where the issues of poverty, development and community engagement can be addressed in a way that respects all parties involved.
SESC seeks to enhance the diversity of its neighbourhood and wants what is best for all its residents — current and future. The specifics of the Tannery Court Development 185 Carmarthen, and the processes involved in its introduction to the neighbourhood, will form the basis of discussion.
